Two Best Best & Krieger attorneys were named among the top up-and-coming attorneys, 40-years-old or younger or practicing law for 10 years or less, in Super Lawyers’ 2011 Southern California Rising Stars. Super Lawyers lists attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and personal achievement. Only 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers Rising Stars lists.

The attorneys, Jason M. Ackerman for environmental law and Kira L. Klatchko for appellate law, also received this honor in 2009 and 2010.

Ackerman practices in the firm’s environmental law and natural resources practice group. He helps clients comply with complex state and federal environmental laws. Ackerman also assists solar energy clients in evaluating project feasibility, securing interest in real property, performing due diligence, securing water rights and evaluating permitting issues. In addition to transactional and permitting advice, he litigates environmental law cases. Ackerman also provides general governance advice to several of the firm’s public agency clients.

Klatchko is an appellate law specialist, certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She handles both state and federal appeals arising from all areas of civil practice. Klatchko served four terms as chair of the Riverside County Bar Association Appellate Section. In 2009, she was appointed to a three-year term on the State Bar of California’s Standing Committee on Appellate Courts. Last year, Klatchko was recognized by the city of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce with the Athena Award for Young Professional Leadership.
