Christopher H. Calfee was selected today by Law360 as
one of the nation's top five environmental lawyers under 40 to watch.
Calfee received the distinction for helping to craft the state's guidelines for analyzing greenhouse gas emissions under the California Environmental Quality Act, taking a leave from Best Best & Krieger after he was appointed by then-Gov. Schwarzenegger for the task.
As special counsel for the Office of Planning and Research and the California Natural Resources Agency, Calfee was the lead attorney responsible for the development and adoption of amendments to the state’s CEQA Guidelines addressing analysis and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions
Returning to BB&K last year, Calfee now advises clients on compliance with CEQA and evolving federal and state climate change laws, including AB 32 and SB 375, and assists in the development of long-range plans for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
