Two BB&K Attorneys Appointed to State Bar of California Section Executive Committees

Partners Joseph Ortiz and Alisha Winterswyk tapped for three-year terms in their respective practice sections.


Best Best & Krieger LLP Partners Joseph Ortiz and Alisha Winterswyk began their terms this month as members of the State Bar of California’s Labor and Employment and Environmental Law sections, respectively. During their three-year terms, they will help promote their practices among the legal community by assisting with conferences, mentoring programs, outreach and training.

Ortiz, who is based in the firm’s Riverside office, is an experienced trial lawyer who represents both private and public employers in a myriad of employment-related claims. He appears in courts and before federal and state agencies on behalf of his clients. He also provides training on a variety of issues. Ortiz has an AV peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota.

Winterswyk practices in BB&K’s Environmental Law & Natural Resources group and is based in the firm’s Irvine office. She counsels both public and private clients regarding the California Environmental Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and land use laws. She regularly speaks at legal conferences and symposia on these topics. Winterswyk is the immediate past president of the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Environmental Professionals and previously served on the State Bar Environmental Law Section’s Legislative Committee.
