Matthew Collins is an associate in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Environmental Law & Natural Resources practice group. Matthew works extensively on issues related to water quality and water rights, as well as all aspects of the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act and related environmental laws.

Matthew received his law degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law. While in law school, he was a research editor on the UC Irvine Law Review and served on the Board of UCI Law’s Environmental Law Society.

During law school, Matthew interned with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office in its Environmental Protection Unit. He also participated in the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing-UCI School of Law Civil Rights Clinic. Throughout his law school career, Matthew engaged in pro bono work, including assisting the California Student Sustainability Coalition Project with legal research.

Prior to law school, Matthew graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Riverside, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science. He is a native of the Inland Empire and enjoys traveling, hiking and being outdoors.
