Victor Ponto

Associate

Victor Ponto provides legal services to cities, school districts, municipal water agencies and other government entities throughout Southern California. An associate in the Municipal Law practice group of Best Best & Krieger LLP, Victor’s practice involves city attorney and general counsel services. Victor frequently advises public agency clients on general municipal law issues, with an emphasis in public contracting, internal investigations and compliance with open government laws.

Victor assists cities and agencies with special projects and in navigating the diverse array of issues confronting local governments on a daily basis. Victor has served as the deputy city attorney for the cities of El Monte, Cudahy, Huntington Park and San Fernando. He also served as general counsel for the El Monte Union High School District and the Central Basin Municipal Water District.

Prior to joining BB&K, Victor worked at one of the largest law firms in the country and brings a wealth of practical legal experience in securities litigation, class action litigation and investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Victor has offered his legal services, pro bono, for civil rights litigation on behalf of countless inmates against the Massachusetts Department of Correction and has handled appeals on behalf of veterans regarding the denial of disability benefits for service-related injuries.

Victor graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in history, and with a minor in political science. He received his law degree from Berkeley Law School at the University of California, Berkeley.
