When environmental compliance and regulatory issues threaten to impact their projects, clients turn to Andrew Skanchy for his ability to analyze and resolve those issues. With a results oriented approach, Andrew assists clients in accomplishing their goals, whether through collaborative deal-making or litigation. Andrew's extensive experience includes advising clients as to the California Environmental Quality Act; the National Environmental Policy Act; the California Surface Mining and Reclamation Act; California's Proposition 65; the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; the Clean Water Act; the Clean Air Act and more.

While Andrew’s first goal is to help clients avoid litigation, Andrew is adept at guiding clients through beneficial settlement agreements and obtaining successful litigation results in both state and federal court. For example, Andrew successfully defended the environmental document prepared for a 100-year, 900-acre aggregate mine in Fresno County: Friends of the Kings River v. County of Fresno (2014) 232 Cal.App.4th 105.

Andrew is actively involved with the Urban Land Institute, is an avid golfer and enjoys exploring cities and new development projects, wherever his travels may take him. Andrew is fluent in German.

Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Sacramento office, Andrew practiced environmental and land use law in Los Angeles for the law firms of Mayer Brown LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP.
