Casey Owen is a paralegal in the Education Law practice group with Best Best & Krieger LLP. She has nearly 20 years of experience as a paralegal.

Casey’s work as a paralegal practice focuses on special education law and litigation, including state and federal courts and appeals and administrative law. She assists attorneys with the procedural aspects of litigation, such as discovery proceedings and trial preparation, which includes exhibits, witness lists, subpoenas and administrative records.

Casey regularly assists attorneys with drafting pleadings, including responses, prehearing conference statements, stipulations and motions. She is called upon to do legal research, create drafts of settlement agreements and prepare case summaries. In addition, she prepares administrative records for special education proceedings and administrative actions, oversees the master calendar for all attorneys in her department and analyzes copious amounts of data for use by attorneys in litigating special education cases.

Prior to joining BB&K, Casey was a paralegal for a municipal law firm in the Inland Empire in Southern California where she worked on assessment foreclosures for cities and special districts throughout California.
