Patrick Monroe is a corporate attorney representing privately owned businesses and nonprofits. He provides general counsel, transactional and dispute resolution legal services for a variety of businesses, including start-ups, as well as mature companies across a broad range of industries, such as information technology, software, Internet, biotech, medical devices and professional services.

General Counsel Services and Corporate Transactions

Patrick provides general counsel legal services to privately owned businesses and nonprofits. He represents clients in a variety of legal matters including contracts, intellectual property, corporate structuring, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities and tax matters.

Co-Ownership and Control Issues

In addition, Patrick represents clients in co-ownership matters that arise between business partners, members and shareholders of the various business entities with regard to their rights and duties and strategies for resolving disputes.

Real Estate Transactions

Patrick also has experience in commercial, real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, easements and advising the limited liability companies and limited partnerships used in such transactions.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger LLP, Patrick was the founding and principal attorney of Monroe Law, APC, a law firm that focused on corporate law. He also had the privilege of interning with Qualcomm’s in-house legal department, where he worked on state and federal tax matters, licensing, strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions. Before becoming an attorney, he held senior management positions for 10 years in both small businesses and Fortune 500 companies.

  • Represented MTS in the $100 million buy-out of leveraged lease rights
  • Represented corporation in the repurchase of $3.3 million worth of its common stock
  • Represented sellers of a Nevada Internet company in the sale of stock valued at $4 million
  • Represented consumer product company in seed funding of $1 million
  • Represented buyer in the purchase of commercial real estate valued at $6 million
  • Represented owners of a financial services firm in spin-off from parent corporation
