As a member of the Business Services Group, Cathy practices in the areas of bankruptcy, reorganization and litigation. Cathy’s extensive work in the representation of debtors, creditors and trustees on contested matters and in adversary proceedings includes:

  • pre-bankruptcy planning and counseling;
  • pre and post-confirmation counseling and motion practice such as first day motions, asset sales, motions for relief from stay and examiner appointments;
  • confirmation contests including intricate financial discovery and expert issues;
  • prosecution and defense of complex preference transfer, fraudulent transfer and turnover claims; and
  • multifaceted mediated and unmediated settlement negotiations and agreements.

Prior to joining the firm in 2010, Cathy served as a law clerk to the Honorable Marvin Isgur, Bankruptcy Judge for the Houston, Brownsville and McAllen Divisions of the Southern District of Texas. During her time in Houston, Cathy was a member of the Moller-Foltz Bankruptcy American Inn of Court.

Cathy earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School. During law school, she was a Dean’s Scholar and a research assistant to property and tax law Professor Theodore Seto. She was also a law clerk to the Western Center on Law & Poverty, where she focused on impact litigation, and a conflict resolution specialist for the Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center, where she facilitated resolution of various consumer and tenant disputes.

Cathy is an alum of Swarthmore College. She received a bachelor’s degree for her double major in political science and economics, seminar work for which was focused on political philosophy, economic theory and quantitative analysis.

Cathy lives in the San Gabriel Valley with her husband and their two boys.
