Steven G. Martin

Associate

Steven G. Martin is an attorney in Best Best & Krieger’s Environmental Law & Natural Resources (ENR) and Special Districts practice groups. Steve has assisted public agency clients with a variety of local governance issues. He also assists clients with transactional and litigation-related matters, including endangered species, water law, and environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Steve graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He was a member of the Law Review and the Environmental Law Society, and received CALI Awards for Excellence for achieving the highest grades in the environmental law and mediation courses. Steve also received a certificate in dispute resolution from Pepperdine’s renowned Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and served as an extern for the Honorable Robin Riblet of the United States Bankruptcy Court in Santa Barbara.

Steve has both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada—a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Science focused on Plant Sciences. He has several years of experience in environmental research and consulting throughout California, Hawaii and Canada. Steve’s unique technical background provides an exceptional resource for assisting Best Best & Krieger’s clients.

Steve is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and has participated in community organizations, including providing pro bono legal services through organizations such as the Inland Empire Latino Lawyers Association. Steve served as a contributing author of the Water Law Chapter in the Association of California Water Agencies “Summary of Appellate Cases Decided by the Courts in 2014-2015.”
