Michael T. Riddell is a partner in the law firm of Best Best & Krieger LLP's Environmental Law & Natural Resources practice group. He chairs the firm’s Local Government sub-practice group and also serves on the firm’s Ethics Committee.

Mr. Riddell’s practice includes the representation of a variety of local governmental entities, including cities, special districts (water, sewer, fire protection, cemetery and school) and joint powers authorities.  He also represents a variety of private sector clients, especially with regard to construction, water and land use matters.  He has developed specialized expertise in dealing with Statewide water issues and represents the firm’s State Water Contractor clients at monthly meetings to discuss issues involving the water supply available from the State Water Project. He has appeared on behalf of the firm’s clients before the State Water Resources Control Board, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the South Coast Air Quality Management District and is also admitted to practice in the State and Federal courts.

Mr. Riddell is a native of San Bernardino, California.  He attended the University of Notre Dame, where he played baseball, majored in English and graduated with highest honors in 1973.  He then received the Roger Kiley Fellowship to attend Notre Dame Law School, served as an associate editor of the Law Review and upon graduation joined BB&K as a first year associate in 1976.
