Christy Marie Lopez brings substantial experience in the fields of telecommunications and code enforcement. Serving of counsel in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Irvine office, she is well-versed in all governing state and federal statutes, as well as federal and state agency decisions. She takes a hands-on approach to all issues and effectively resolves them with creative solutions.

Telecommunications

Christy advises on telecommunications laws, including the regulation and sitting of wireless communications devices and cable franchising under state and federal law. She assists clients with negotiating and drafting agreements related to installations of wireless devices on public and private property.

Christy is the immediate past president of the States of California and Nevada Chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors after serving two terms as president.

She has more than 12 years’ experience in telecommunications law and assisting public agency clients. During law school, Christy focused on communications law as a member of the Institute for Communications Law Studies. She interned for the Federal Communications Commission, where she advised the bureau chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and a former commissioner on communications law and policy matters. She also interned in the General Counsel’s office of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association.

Code Enforcement

Christy serves as city prosecutor for multiple jurisdictions. She has substantial experience with all aspects of code enforcing, including:

  • public nuisances
  • administrative citations and procedures
  • abatements
  • receiverships
  • animal control, including potentially dangerous or vicious dog proceedings
  • criminal prosecution
  • jury trial experience
  • cost recovery
  • permit revocation
  • ordinance drafting

She has successfully resolved hundreds of code enforcement cases and maintains strong working relationships with law enforcement officers, code enforcement officers, animal control officers, managers and directors.

While attending Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., she received the Best Oralist award in two moot court competitions and was on the National Telecommunications Moot Court Competition Team. She served as president of the Environmental Law Society and was also coordinator of the Latin American Law Student Association. Christy is licensed to practice law in the State of California.

Christy serves on the Board of the Child Creativity Lab, a nonprofit organization that seeks to nurture the creative mindset of children by offering educational programs that focus on creativity-enhancing stimulation and inspiration.
